Step-By-Step Instructions

Once you have printed out the template, cut out the template pieces, and gathered your supplies, we can start making the flower! This begins at step 4 from the instructions PDF.

The photos below show the construction of a small poinsettia. A medium size is demonstrated in the video.

Step 4: Cut out leaves (petals)

Step 5: Assemble leaves

Each leaf is wired so the leaf can be positioned and bent afterwards. I am using a 6” length of 26 gauge floral wire for each leaf.

Put a line of glue down the edge of one half and place the wire along it.

Ovelap the wire with the other leaf half.

Repeat to assemble the rest of the leaves, and trip the tips of the leaves so they are neat.

Step 6: Make the centre

The centre is made up of 5 “pips”, and wrapped with a stem covering strip.

Cut 5 thin strips for the pips from template piece 6.

To form a pip, twist the strip and fold it in half.

Place a pip at the top of the stem wire.

Put some glue on a stem covering strip.

Wrap the stem coverings strip around the bottom of the pip to attach it to the stem.

Continue adding pips and wrapping to finish making the centre.

Step 7: Attach leaves

Position the 3 smallest leaves around the centre.

Glue and wrap the bottom of the leaves to the stem using the stem covering strip.

Position and attach the rest of the leaves 3 at a time.

After attaching all the leaves.

Continue wrapping down the stem with the stem covering strips.
